40’ standard box car with single Youngstown door is painted aluminum with freight car red sides and ends; lettering on the sides is red and the ends are lettered white. It was built in March 1945 by Montreal’s Angus shop, and serviced March 11, 1946. This car ran well into the 1980s. Part of a large series built from 1945 to 1947, this car illustrates an unusual paint scheme for box cars of the 1940s, even within its own series. Canadian Pacific experimented with aluminum cars and red lettering in 1945.
